I don’t have any drag experience. Can I still participate? We welcome all performers regardless of their level of drag experience. These roles are open to any and everyone. GSC’s goal is to be inclusive and make sure that this fundraiser is fun and engaging for all performers and audience members. The only expectation is that performers are respectful and interested in the art of drag. What does “masc presenting” and “femme presenting” mean? Masc presenting means that characters present more traditionally masculine. Femme presenting means that the characters present more traditionally feminine. We use this language to as inclusive as possible especially to our friends who may be non-binary, agender, gender-fluid, etc. Do I have to audition for a part that does not align with my gender identity? No. You are encouraged to try out for any role that you would feel comfortable performing. Male presenting performers can try out for Beatrice just the same as female presenting performers can try out for Hero, or non-binary performers for Benedick. If you are cast, we encourage you to reach out to the production team if any elements of the performance cause personal gender dysphoria or discomfort. All pronouns and gender identities will be respected whether that individual is in or out of drag.
